BRAMPTON, ON (October 20, 2026) – Brampton residents are showing strong participation in the 2026 Municipal Election, with nearly 25,000 voters casting their ballots during five days of advance voting on October 9, 10, 11, 16 and 17, an estimated eight per cent increase compared to the previous municipal election.
Where to vote on Voting Day
Voting Day is Monday, October 26, and will be residents’ final opportunity to cast their ballots, with voting locations open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Voting Day, voters can vote at any voting location within their ward. Voters can use the City’s online voting location tool at brampton.ca/voters to find a voting location within their ward.
Who can vote?
A person can vote in the municipal election if they are:
- A Canadian citizen
- At least 18 years of age or older on Voting Day
- A resident of Brampton, or the owner or tenant of land in Brampton, or the spouse of such owner or tenant
- Not otherwise prohibited from voting
How to vote
Voters are encouraged to review their voter notice and confirm their information is accurate before Voting Day. Voters should bring their voter notice and acceptable identification showing their name and Brampton address. Election officials will verify voter information and provide a ballot. While a voter notice can help speed up the process, it is not required to vote and cannot be used as identification.
Residents who did not receive a voter notice can use the City’s online tool to check if they are on the Voters’ List. Voters can also add or update their information in person at Brampton City Hall or at any voting location within their ward on Voting Day. All voters must bring acceptable identification showing their name and Brampton address.
Accessible voting options
All voting locations for the 2026 Municipal Election are accessible. An accessible voting unit will be available at a designated voting location within each ward on Voting Day, and is equipped with the following accessibility tools to assist voters in marking their ballot independently:
- Touchscreen voting
- Headphones with an audio ballot
- Rocker paddle
- High-contrast viewing
- Keypad with Braille
- Sip-N-Puff device
Voters who require assistance may be accompanied by a support person, and election officials are trained to provide accessible customer service. Proxy voting is also available for eligible voters who are unable to vote in person on Voting Day.
Election results
Election results will begin to be posted at brampton.ca/bramptonvotes after voting ends at 8 p.m. on October 26. Unofficial results will be posted progressively as they become available.
