​​Site Selection recognizes Brampton for corporate investment, job creation and continued economic growth

BRAMPTON, ON (September 1, 2026) – The City of Brampton has been recognized by Site Selection as one of Canada’s 20 most competitive metro regions and municipalities for corporate investment in its annual Canada’s Best Locations report for a fifth time.

Site Selection evaluates locations using corporate end-user facility investment activity, including capital investment and job creation, with calculations considering both cumulative and per-capita activity. The recognition reflects Brampton’s ability to attract significant corporate investment and job creation, demonstrating the city’s competitiveness as a destination for companies looking to establish, expand and invest in Canada.

Located at the centre of Canada’s Innovation Corridor, Brampton is home to a diverse and highly skilled workforce, strong transportation and logistics connections and a growing ecosystem of businesses across advanced manufacturing, food and beverage processing, health and life sciences, innovation and technology and emerging sectors such as space, defence and cybersecurity.​

Recent investments driving Brampton’s growth

Brampton has continued to attract significant private-sector investment and create new employment opportunities, including:​

  • Mobile Climate Control (MCC) – Panattoni broke ground on a new advanced manufacturing and research and development facility, representing a $120 million investment and creating more than 700 jobs.
  • Coca-Cola Canada Bottling - announced a $141 million investment to expand its flagship Brampton facility, including a 62,000 sq. ft. addition and new production line adding at least 20 million cases in annual capacity and supporting up to 500 construction jobs.
  • lululemon – opened its one-million sq. ft. Brampton Distribution Centre, one of the largest distribution facilities in North America and home to Canada’s largest AutoStore installation, featuring advanced robotics and automation.
  • Marcangelo Foods (Concord Premium Meats Ltd.) – announced a $70 million investment in a new food manufacturing facility, creating 300 jobs.
  • Encore Canada – opened its 153,000 sq. ft. Canadian headquarters in Brampton, home to more than 225 professionals.
  • Socomec Canada – opened its largest Canadian manufacturing facility in Brampton, a 148,000 sq. ft. advanced manufacturing facility creating 170 jobs. The new facility marks Socomec’s third location in Brampton, with more than 500 local jobs across its Brampton operations.
  • Sun Pharma – expanded its Brampton operations with more than $56 million in investment, including a new 50,000 sq. ft. environmentally controlled warehouse, specialized pharmaceutical production suite and advanced tube-filling line, creating more than 35 new jobs.
  • Maple Lodge Farms – opened a new 24,000 sq. ft. Chicken Shop facility, building on the company’s longstanding presence in Brampton.
  • Toronto Metropolitan University – opened its School of Medicine in Brampton in September 2025, strengthening the city’s health innovation sector and creating new opportunities for health education, research and innovation.

Supporting innovation and business growth

The Brampton Innovation District continues to support entrepreneurs and high-potential startups through programming, mentorship, investment opportunities and connections to Brampton’s broader business ecosystem.​

In 2025, Innovation District partners:

  • Graduated 271 startups
  • Supported companies and alumni that filed 25 patents
  • Hosted 372 events in Brampton with more than 14,000 participants
  • Supported participating companies and alumni in raising more than $23.5 million in investments
  • Distributed more than $3.7 million in grants and investments through the Brampton Innovation District and Brampton Angels to support early-stage technology startups

In addition, Brampton’s Economic Development Office also recently earned its second consecutive accreditation from the International Economic Development Council as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). Brampton is one of only three AEDOs in Ontario and one of 98 organizations worldwide to hold the designation.​
