​​BRAMPTON, ON (August 25, 2026) – Following the end of the nomination period for Brampton’s 2026 Municipal Election, which closed on Friday, August 21, the official list of candidates is now published, as certified by the City Clerk.

Elected by acclamation

The Municipal Elections Act (the Act), 1996, states that, if, at 4 p.m. on the Monday following the end of the nomination period, the number of certified candidates for an office is the same as or less than the number to be elected, the City Clerk shall immediately declare the candidate or candidates elected by acclamation. 

This election cycle, one nomination has been received for the following office and in accordance with the Act, the following candidate is elected by acclamation:

• ​French Separate Trustee, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir – Genevieve Grenier
  

About Brampton’s 2026 Municipal Election

• Voting Day: Voting Day is on Monday, October 26. Voting hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can vote at any voting location within their ward.
  
• Voting locations: Voting location information will be available online on September 1. 
• Advance voting: Advance voting will take place on October 9, 10, 11, 16 and 17. Advance voting locations are open weekdays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voters can vote at any of the advance voting locations in Brampton. 
• Proxy voting: Eligible Brampton voters who cannot cast their ballot on Voting Day or during advance voting may appoint another eligible Brampton voter to vote on their behalf. Any person whose name is on the Voters’ List or who has been added to the Voters’ List may vote by proxy. 
• Home Voting Service: Beginning on September 1, eligible voters who are homebound due to illness, injury or disability may apply to vote using the Home Voting service. Voting days for home voting services will be on October 13, 14 and 15. Limited appointments will be available to those who meet the eligibility requirements. Appointments can be requested until Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. More information about the service and appointment process will be available on the City's website.
  
• Bring your ID to vote: Voters must bring one piece of identification showing their name and qualifying Brampton address to vote. Review the list of acceptable documents as forms of ID.
• Third Party Advertising: Potential third party advertisers may file a registration to advertise in Brampton until October 23 at 4:30 p.m. Information about third party advertising, eligibility requirements and the registration process is available at brampton.ca/thirdparties.
