This project is part of a broader collaboration between Cultural Services and Recreation to bring public art into everyday community spaces. The mural is the first of four large-scale artworks being installed at the Brampton Soccer Centre this summer, transforming the facility into a vibrant showcase of local creativity. The initiative supports the City's Public Art Strategy and Parks and Recreation Master Plan by enhancing community spaces and creating opportunities for residents to connect with arts and culture.
The murals reflect Brampton’s growing role in developing athletes and fostering community through sport. Each artwork captures themes of perseverance, identity, teamwork and the journey of growing the game, while recognizing the diverse communities that support young athletes on and off the field. With Brampton celebrating a summer of soccer through the Where
the Game Grows campaign and community activations, the murals arrive at a timely moment, highlighting the local talent, creativity and community spaces helping shape the city’s soccer and art culture.

About the Artist
Paul Glyn-Williams is a self-taught visual artist and conceptual project designer known for his bold use of colour and layered visual storytelling. Raised in Brampton, where sports played a significant role in his upbringing, he also began developing the artistic skills that would shape his future career. Now based between Toronto and Montreal, his artistic practice spans painting, digital graphics, graffiti, sculpture and fabrication, and has led to the creation of large-scale public artworks across Canada, the United States, Europe and South America.

“Every artist’s story begins somewhere. Mine begins in Brampton. Before murals and international projects, my world was shaped by the neighbourhoods of Heart Lake and Springdale. Growing up near Sandalwood, Kennedy, and later Dixie Road, I spent my childhood in the parks, sports fields, schools, and community centres that define everyday life in Brampton. I attended St. Leonard’s, St. Agnes, and later Notre Dame Secondary School, where sports became a major part of my life. At the same time, art was quietly becoming my path. What began as a personal creative outlet evolved into a career creating large-scale public murals across Canada and internationally. Yet the lessons that continue to guide my work were first learned here in Brampton. This mural is my way of giving back to the place that helped shape both the person and artist I became.” - Paul Glyn-Williams (SumArtist), Artist of Moment of Impact
