Community invited to celebrate Eid, Italian Heritage Month and Filipino Heritage Month
BRAMPTON, ON (May 25, 2026) – This June, Brampton will become a place for residents and visitors to experience the cultures, traditions, food, music and stories shaping one of Canada’s most diverse cities.
The City of Brampton invites residents to take part in a month of community celebrations recognizing Eid, Italian Heritage Month and Filipino Heritage Month. Each event offers a meaningful way to honour heritage, share traditions and experience the people and stories behind Brampton’s cultural identity.
Through live performances, cultural displays, food, family-friendly activities and opportunities for community giving, these celebrations create space for residents to learn, participate and discover more of what makes Brampton a destination for culture, connection and community pride.
Celebrate Eid

Date: Sunday, June 7, 2026
Time: 2 to 5 p.m.
Location: Gage Park, 45 Main St. S.
Residents are invited to experience Eid at Gage Park through a community celebration recognizing Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant holidays in the Muslim calendar. The event will feature live entertainment, family-friendly activities, cultural displays, Halal food vendors and opportunities to give back to the community through donations supporting local organizations.
The celebration will include performances, games and interactive activities, henna art, face painting, cultural display tables, and halal food trucks. Residents are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation or a new, unwrapped toy in support of local organizations.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the two major celebrations observed by Muslims around the world. The holiday recognizes faith, compassion and community, while encouraging charitable giving and time spent with family and friends.
Italian Heritage Month

The City of Brampton invites residents to celebrate Italian Heritage Month with a community flag raising at Ken Whillans Square and an afternoon reception highlighting Italian music, food and cultural pride.
The event, sponsored by Algoma University will include performances by Carmen Spada and I Ragazzi Del Sud, with complimentary Italian cuisine provided by Tonino’s. Picnic tables will be available for attendees to enjoy the afternoon, connect with neighbours and take part in the celebration.
Italian Heritage Month is celebrated across Canada in June to recognize the important contributions Italian Canadians have made to communities across the country. The month highlights the cultural, economic, political and social contributions of Italian Canadians while celebrating traditions, language, music and cuisine.
Filipino Heritage Month

Time: 11 am to 1:30 p.m.
Location: Brampton City Hall, 2 Wellington St. W.
Residents are invited to take part in a Filipino Heritage Month celebration beginning with a community flag raising at Ken Whillans Square, followed by cultural performances, entertainment and traditional Filipino cuisine at Brampton City Hall.
The celebration, sponsored by Algoma University will include performances from local Filipino artists and community groups, showcasing traditional and contemporary Filipino music and dance. Guests can also enjoy complimentary traditional cuisine, including halo-halo, a popular Filipino dessert. The event is held in partnership with the Brampton Filipino Seniors Club and Federation of Filipino Canadians in Brampton.
Filipino Heritage Month is celebrated nationally in June and recognizes the important contributions Filipino Canadians have made to communities across Canada. June also marks Philippine Independence Day, commemorating the Philippines gaining independence on June 12, 1898, and celebrating Filipino culture, heritage and traditions.
Portuguese Heritage Month is also recognized in Canada each June, celebrating the contributions and culture of Portuguese Canadians across the country. In Brampton, the community will mark the occasion through celebrations taking place at the end of May, including the Lusofonia Festival from May 29 to 31 at Gage Park and a community flag raising ceremony on May 30 at Ken Whillans Square.
