​​​​BRAMPTON, ON (April 29, 2026) – The City of Brampton City Clerk’s Office will begin accepting candidate nominations and third party advertiser registrations, for the 2026 Brampton Municipal Election on Friday, May 1, 2026. 

The nomination period for candidates ends on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2 p.m.

The registration period for third party advertisers will continue until October 23, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. 

Candidates 

The City will accept nominations for the following offices: 

  • Mayor 
  • Regional Councillor 
  • City Councillor 
  • School Board Trustee for:
  • Peel District School Board 
  • Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board  
  • Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir 

The City of Mississauga will accept candidate nominations for School Board Trustee, Conseil scolaire Viamonde. 

Nomination forms and information packages for candidates are available online and at the City Clerk’s Office in Brampton City Hall. Forms must be filed by appointment, in person (or by an agent), during regular office hours until Thursday, August 20, 2026. Appointments are not required on the last day for filing nominations, Friday, August 21, 2026. Candidates shall be served on a first come, first served basis on this day only. The hours for filing on Friday, August 21, 2026, are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please visit brampton.ca/bramptonvotes to access the required forms, information package and to book an appointment for filing. 

The filing fee ($200 for Mayor, $100 for all other offices) is payable by cash, debit, credit, certified cheque or money order at the time of filing. Applicants must present original identification with proof of name and qualifying address. Photocopies and electronic forms of ID will not be accepted. A list of acceptable forms of identification can be found online. A candidate may neither spend money on, nor receive money for, a campaign before they have filed their nomination papers.

Third Party Advertisers 

Any individual, corporation or trade union that wishes to advertise in broadcast, print, electronic or other mediums to promote, support or oppose a candidate, is required to register with the City. 

Registration forms and information packages for third party advertisers are available online and at the City Clerk’s Office in Brampton City Hall. Registrations must be filed by appointment, in person (or by an agent) during regular office hours until Friday, October 23, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. Visit brampton.ca/bramptonvotes to access the required forms, information package and to book an appointment for filing. 

The person filing the registration is required to present original identification at the time of filing. Photocopies and electronic forms of ID will not be accepted. A list of acceptable forms of identification can be found online. A representative who wishes to register on behalf of a corporation or trade union third party advertiser must provide a letter of authorization from a designated official of the corporation or trade union. A third party advertiser may neither spend money on, nor receive money for, a campaign before they have filed their registration papers.
