BRAMPTON, ON (January 30, 2026) – This February, the City of Brampton invites residents to celebrate Black History Month through City-led events, community activities and educational programming recognizing the achievements, legacy and ongoing contributions of the Black community.

The City honours the achievements and contributions of the Black community, whose leadership and influence helped shape Brampton into the welcoming and diverse city it is today. This year’s theme is: “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations – From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries”. The theme celebrates past leaders while recognizing new voices shaping the future.

The Brampton City Hall Clock Tower will be lit red, yellow and green to mark the beginning of Black History Month.
Pan-African Flag Raising

Residents are invited to attend the ceremonial flag raising celebrating Pan-African identity, pride and unity.

30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations

Free tickets are available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.
Celebrate Black History Month with an evening of cultural performances, community recognition and special guests led by the City’s Black Empowerment Unit (BEU). The program includes remarks, a keynote address by The Honourable Justice Irving Andre and awards recognizing community leaders.
The BEU is leading the City of Brampton’s work to dismantle systemic anti-Black racism and uplift the social, cultural and economic position of Brampton’s Black community.

Arts Inside Workshop: Auditioning & Scene Study

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services
Brampton Fire and Emergency Services will feature a dedicated fire truck wrap showcasing the contributions of Black leaders who helped shape the international fire service. The wrap builds awareness across the Brampton community.
