​​​BRAMPTON, ON (July 18, 2025) – The City of Brampton has achieved a significant milestone, earning the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the tenth consecutive year. This prestigious recognition celebrates a decade of Brampton’s commitment to the highest standards of accountability, transparency and excellence in municipal budgeting.

Each year, GFOA recognizes government entities that meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. To receive the award, Brampton’s budget was evaluated on how well it serves as:

• a policy document
• a financial plan
• an operations guide
• a communications tool
  

The City’s 2025 Budget was also assessed against criteria including strategic goals, clarity in financial planning and transparency in funding and accounting practices. ​

This 10-year achievement not only reflects Brampton’s consistent dedication to sound financial governance but also its commitment to responsibly planning for the needs of its residents. Over the past decade, Brampton’s budgets have guided record investments in transportation, infrastructure, health care, safety, recreation and environmental sustainability, all while strengthening the City's financial reserves.
