As the first city in Canada to offer free 65+ recreation memberships, Brampton honours older adults and encourages them to stay active and connected this June
BRAMPTON, ON (May 21, 2025) – This June, the City of Brampton is celebrating Seniors Month, honouring the generations of older adults whose contributions have built and shaped the thriving, inclusive and vibrant community Brampton is today.
This year’s theme, Fit, Active and Healthy Seniors, highlights the importance of connections and activities to promote aging with grace and dignity. Understanding the vital role physical activity, mental wellness and emotional well-being play in healthy aging, Brampton delivers programs, services and supports helping seniors stay active, safe and connected, guided by its Age Friendly Strategy.
The City of Brampton extends its heartfelt thanks to all seniors for their ongoing contributions to the community as mentors, caregivers, volunteers and leaders. Seniors are encouraged to explore the wide range of programs, activities and events being offered throughout June and beyond, and to stay connected with friends, neighbours and the vibrant community around them. Brampton is home to approximately 157,000 residents 55 years old and older. Recognizing the connection between physical activity and better health, mental wellness and emotional well-being, the City of Brampton is committed to ensuring residents have the services and support they need to stay healthy, age safely and enjoy a high quality of life. Now open: register for the free 65+ Annual Recreation Membership
The City of Brampton is proud to be the first municipality in Canada to offer free recreation memberships to residents aged 65 and older. Residents can visit any City of Brampton recreation centre to verify their eligibility. Individuals interested in signing up for the new free 65+ Annual Recreation Membership must provide:
- proof of being a Brampton resident, such as a driver’s licence or utility bill with a home address
- proof of identity and age
- proof of Canadian citizenship or being a permanent resident

Join the City of Brampton in kicking off the official start of the new free 65+ Annual Recreation Membership with a free seniors fitness class and an opportunity to connect with the Mayor, City Council and Brampton recreation staff. Save the date | Brampton’s Springfest Luncheon and Expo
The City of Brampton invites older adults to attend the annual Springfest Luncheon and Expo, a lively and engaging event bringing the community together. Attendees can explore an informative expo featuring programs and services available to seniors in Brampton, followed by a buffet-style lunch and an afternoon of dancing and music by a live DJ.
Registration is required to attend the lunch and dance portion of the event and a Flower City membership is not required to register. Registration for residents is $28.30 plus HST and $36.79 plus HST for non-residents. Registration can be completed in person at any City of Brampton recreation centre, by calling 3-1-1 or online with a City of Brampton Recreation registration account. Patrons can also enjoy a 25 per cent discount on all registered programs (with the exception of Inclusive Programs and Adult 55+ specific programs).
