About the City Lands project

Identified in the City’s 2040 Vision as a key opportunity, this site of over 100 acres, owned by the City of Brampton, has transformative potential to advance the area as a regional destination.

A 2019 technical analysis identified the strategic opportunity to transform this large, developable precinct (previously referred to as the “CAA Lands”) from a sports complex into a new urban core with major transit-oriented opportunities for high-density residential, business, leisure, and tourism.

Currently, the area located east of Kennedy Road South, west of Highway 410 and to the north of the 407 ETR is the location of the CAA sports and entertainment facility (formerly the Powerade Centre). Redevelopment of the lands aligns with the City’s vision of advancing projects to create “complete communities”.

“Over the last five years, the City has been advancing plans to fulfill the demand for a new Multi-Purpose Cricket Facility and advance its community building vision for this unique site. Today marks a major milestone as we begin seeking bold ideas to help see this vision come to life. Thank you to the residents, businesses and local stakeholders who provided their feedback to help ensure we’re curating and planning amenities and services that will meet the needs of the community.”
- Patrick Brown, Mayor, City of Brampton

“The City of Brampton is inviting prospective proponents to participate in this exceptionally exciting premier sports facility and community building initiative. This phase of the project and invitation represents an early opportunity to partner with the City to yield long term social, economic and cultural benefits to potential partners, the City and its residents.”
- Michael Palleschi, Regional Councillor, Wards 2 & 6; Chair, Planning and Development Committee

“Through transforming the City Lands into a new urban core with major transit-oriented opportunities for high-density residential, business, leisure, and tourism, there is a very exciting and real opportunity to further unlock enormous economic potential for Brampton. This prime location presents a strategic opportunity for both the city and potential proponents, and we look forward to seeing how this next phase of the project unfolds.”
- Gurpartap Singh Toor, Regional Councillor, Wards 9 & 10; Chair, Economic Development
