City of Brampton to introduce Vaccination Policy for employees

BRAMPTON, ON (September 1, 2021) – Following a Special Council Meeting today, the City of Brampton will advance ongoing efforts to implement a Vaccination Policy for all City of Brampton staff.

Since the onset of COVID-19, City Staff have worked closely with labour partners and Peel Region municipalities, under the guidance of Peel Public Health, on the implementation of a range of measures that prioritize the safety of employees and the public in the delivery of City services. This policy will follow the same approach, helping protect the health and safety of City staff and their families, and ensuring the City can continue to safely serve its community while protecting against COVID-19.

The City policy will also consider information announced today by the Government of Ontario that will require proof of vaccination in select settings.

As one of the largest employers in the Peel Region, the City of Brampton employs more than 6,000 employees. It is committed to a Healthy and Safe workplace that prioritizes the wellbeing of staff and the community it serves. This policy will apply to all employees, across all City departments.

Individuals with exemptions will be accommodated under the Ontario Human Rights Code.

The full policy, including effective dates, will be finalized in the coming week.
