Artists invited to apply to create piece honouring fallen firefighters
BRAMPTON, ON (September 2, 2021) – Today, the Brampton Professional Fire Fighters, IAFF Local 1068 presented the City of Brampton with a cheque for $150,000 to contribute to a new memorial that will honour Brampton’s fallen firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The association members voted in favour of contributing these funds adding to the $150,000 already provided by the City, totaling $300,000 for the art piece.
This memorial will be located at the new Fire Headquarters and Training Centre on Williams Parkway, scheduled for completion in the spring of 2023. The state-of-the-art, centralized facility will be home to Brampton’s Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters, Prevention Division, new Fire Station 203, an Emergency Operations Centre, Emergency Measures Office, and indoor and outdoor fire training facilities.
Call for Artists
The City of Brampton invites professional artists and artist-led teams to submit expressions of interest to create a new Brampton Fire and Emergency Services Memorial. Artists must reside in and be legally permitted to work in Canada.
This Call to Artists for Expressions of Interest is the first stage of a two-stage competitive process.
- Stage One: A review of expressions of interest by a selection panel of project stakeholders.
- Stage Two: Invitations to a shortlist of eligible artists to submit a design proposal. The successful artist will be selected at this stage.
