Join Mayor Patrick Brown and Councillors online for the 2021 New Year’s Levee

BRAMPTON, ON (February 9, 2021) – Join Mayor Patrick Brown and Members of Council virtually for the longstanding tradition of the Mayor’s New Year’s Levee on Saturday, February 13, from 11 am to 12 pm.

This year, due to the COVID-19 and the Provincewide shutdown, the Mayor’s Levee will be hosted online. Mayor Brown and Members of Council will bring welcome messages, followed by the Mayor’s New Year address.

As part of the event, people can test their knowledge of Brampton with a game of Brampton trivia. The game can be played on cell phones, using the Kahoot app (which can be downloaded from the app store) or online at www.kahoot.it. The top five contestants will win an e-gift card to participating downtown businesses that offer online purchasing with curbside pickup.

This year’s Levee also features a virtual photo booth where people can take pictures of themselves and their family and then share the photos online with the hashtag #BramptonLevee.

Brampton’s own Cristina Howorun, an award-winning journalist with CityTV in Toronto, will host the event.

The New Year’s Levee is a tradition that is celebrated in Canada at the Federal, Provincial, Regional and Municipal levels of government. Over the years, the City of Brampton’s New Year’s Levee has taken several different formats while providing a celebratory reception for residents and the opportunity to meet with the Mayor and Councillors.

Quote

“The tradition of a New Year’s Levee is to exchange greetings and best wishes for the New Year. It is also an opportunity to reflect upon the events of the past year and to welcome the opportunities of the coming year in Brampton. While New Year’s Levee may be different this year, it is an important tradition to continue. I look forward to joining residents for this year’s celebrations!”
- Patrick Brown, Mayor, City of Brampton
