Celebrate Black History Month in Brampton

BRAMPTON, ON - The City of Brampton officially celebrated the beginning of Black History Month on February 1 at City Hall with speeches, poetry and the reading of Brampton’s proclamation of February as Black History Month.

The City is hosting two more events in February in celebration of Brampton’s Black African and Caribbean community.
 
Taste of Black History Month 

Come to Brampton City Hall for lunch on Friday, February 22 from 12 to 2 pm! Local vendors will be selling delicious snacks and meals in the Conservatory for $5 or less.

Closing Event

Celebrate the end of Black History Month in style at the City’s closing event on Thursday, February 28. From 4:30 to 8 pm, Brampton City Hall will come alive with dance, music, spoken word, kids’ activities including face painting, and vendors. Stage presentations begin at 6 pm and light refreshments will be available.

“I’m proud that the City of Brampton is hosting its first public Black History Month events. On behalf of all of Council, we look forward to this opportunity to celebrate our Black African and Caribbean community, and to many future cultural celebrations,” said Mayor Patrick Brown.
 
Black History Month is a national event, recognizing the important contributions Black Canadians have made to Canadian heritage and identity. Brampton’s events celebrate the past and present contributions of our local Black community to all aspects of life in our city.
