City of Brampton recognizes 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week

BRAMPTON, ON (October 6, 2022) – From October 9 to 15, the City of Brampton, including Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, and event sponsors Enbridge Gas and Dominos, are recognizing the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week to help educate the community on fire safety and preparedness.

This year’s theme, as announced by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), is “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape!” The theme is to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires.

Home escape planning
• Residents should have a Home Fire Escape Plan and practice it twice a year
• Establish a meeting place outside the front of your home
• Plan two ways out of every room
• Don’t ever go back inside for anything, including pets
• Get out, stay out! Call 9-1-1 immediately in case of a fire!

To celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Fire Prevention Week, the City of Brampton will be holding open houses at fire stations across the city. Be one of the first 50 families to receive a 10-year worry free combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm. There will also be tours of fire trucks and stations.
