​​Media are invited to attend the grand opening of Brampton’s newest outdoor recreation destination, featuring two NHL-sized outdoor ice rinks at Sandalwood Park. This special community event features appearances from former NHL Stanley Cup champion Gary Roberts and Toronto Sceptres forward Maggie Connors representing as team captains for the inaugural hockey game on the ice, an exclusive Youth Hockey Development session with Coach Phil Oreskovic, giveaways and more. 

Mayor Patrick Brown and Councillors will deliver remarks to mark the official opening of the new sporting facility, followed by an opportunity for photos and footage of the inaugural game. 

DATE: Saturday, February 14, 2026

TIME: 12 pm to 2 pm – formal remarks and grand opening ceremony at 12:30 pm.

Members of the media who wish to participate are required to register by Friday, February 13 at 4:30 pm by emailing mediarelations@brampton.ca. To allow time for setup, media are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes before the grand opening ceremony. ​​
