​​BRAMPTON, ON – Every year on November 11, Canadians come together to pause, reflect and honour the individuals who have served and continue to serve Canada in times of war, conflict and peace. This year, the City of Brampton, in partnership with Royal Canadian Legion Branches 15 and 609, will host a series of services and parades to pay tribute to Canada’s veterans and active service members, recognizing their courage, sacrifice and dedication to protecting our freedoms. ​

As part of Veterans’ Week (November 5 to 11), the City also acknowledges Black Veterans Day on November 7 and Indigenous Veterans Day on November 8, honouring the significant contributions of Black and Indigenous veterans in shaping Canada’s history and heritage. ​

Poppy Campaign Launch and Flag Raising  

The annual Poppy Campaign serves as a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom and the importance of remembrance. A special flag-raising ceremony will officially launch this year’s campaign at Brampton City Hall. Proceeds from the campaign support veterans and their families through the Royal Canadian Legion.  ​

As part of the City’s ongoing tribute to local heroes, the Veterans Banner Program continues to grow each year, amid the downtown construction. A banner featuring Brampton veterans will be proudly displayed outside City Hall near Ken Whillans Square. City Hall and some City facilities will be closed on Monday, November 11. ​

Essential and Critical Services

All essential and critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, By-Law Enforcement, Road Operations and Security Services will continue to operate as usual to support the community. ​

Service Brampton 

Service Brampton is available 24/7, including holidays, with only urgent service requests handled between 12 am and 7 am. Residents can contact Service Brampton for any City of Brampton and Region of Peel inquiries by using the Brampton 311 app (available on the App Store and Google Play), visiting 311brampton.ca or by dialing 3-1-1 or 905.874.2000 (outside Brampton). Non-urgent requests should be submitted through the app or online at 311brampton.ca. ​

Brampton Transit 

Brampton Transit will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Remembrance Day. Customer Service Counters at the Terminals will be open. Our Clark and Sandalwood facilities will be closed, including our Lost and Found. The Contact Centre is available to assist you from 7 am to 9 pm at 905.874.2999.  

War veterans ride free on Brampton Transit on Remembrance Day. A veteran can be identified by producing a Brampton Transit Veteran Pass or any of the following items:

Brampton Transit Veteran Pass Program

City Council and Brampton Transit are proud to honour the accomplishments and sacrifices of all Canadian Armed Forces members. Brampton Parks 

All Brampton recreational trails, playgrounds and parks, including off-leash dog parks, remain open on Remembrance Day. Visit brampton.ca/parks​ to explore the more than 850 parks and recreational trails in Brampton. ​

Brampton Recreation 

All recreation facilities will be operating under regular business hours on November 11, with no impacts to registered programming. Brampton Library 

All Brampton Library branches will be closed on November 11.

The Brampton Animal Shelter​ will be closed on November 11. Animal Services officers will be on the road for patrol and will continue to respond to emergency calls after hours. ​
