The Hurontario/Main Street Corridor Master Plan was completed in January 2011. The Master Plan sets out a vision for the Hurontario/Main Street Corridor that integrates planning for rapid transit with higher order mixed-use development and enhanced urban design.

On March 8, 2017, City Council adopted Official Plan Amendment OP2006-124 to implement the Hurontario-Main Corridor Secondary Plan, which includes many of the planning recommendations of the Master Plan with respect to lands generally fronting Hurontario/Main Street from Charolais Boulevard to south of Ray Lawson Boulevard.

The Notice of Council’s decision was issued on March 23, 2017 and the last date of appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board is April 12, 2017.

The new Secondary Plan includes land use, transportation and urban design policies that will guide the transformation of existing low density, commercial sites within the Hurontario-Main Corridor into a mixed use, higher density, pedestrian and transit-oriented development, consistent with the City’s long-term vision and objectives.

Extensive public consultation was undertaken as part of the secondary planning for the Hurontario-Main Corridor including a statutory public meeting held in May 2014 and public information centres held in February 2012 and May 2013.
