Help us Create a Plan for the Future of Heritage Heights!

The City has acquired the services of DIALOG Planning and Design, to launch a re-engagement strategy for the Secondary Plan process for Heritage Heights. The objective of the re-engagement strategy is to effectively and thoughtfully involve all landowners within the Secondary Plan area and the city at large in shaping the future of Heritage Heights. A design workshop was organized for November 26-29th, to solicit the involvement of stakeholders, landowners, the Mayor and Council, and the public at large in an insightful and productive manner.

This Secondary Plan, is one of the last remaining Greenfield areas in our City, and represents a great opportunity to do things differently. We are hoping that we can engage with the public so we get a better understanding of what the expectations are for the Secondary Plan.

The workshop sessions will be held November 26-29 at Cassie Campbell Community Centre (1050 Sandalwood Parkway West, Brampton, ON L7A 0K9) the public is welcome to drop by anytime for 10am-4pm to provide general input and ideas for the development of the area; and are invited to participate in:

  • A design session on November 26, from 3pm-4pm and Public Open House from 6pm-7pm;
  • Drop-in sessions on November 27, from 10am-4pm
  • A design session on November 28, from 1pm-4pm, and Public Open House from 6pm-7pm; and
  • A design session on November 29, from 1pm-4pm, and Public Open House from 6pm-7pm.

Hope to see you there!

History

In December 2009, Council authorized staff to initiate secondary planning for Secondary Plan Areas 52 (Huttonville North) & 53 (Mount Pleasant West), collectively referred to as the “Heritage Heights Community”. The Heritage Heights Community is bounded by Mayfield Road to the north, Winston Churchill Boulevard to the west, Mississauga Road to the east and the Credit River Valley to the south (click here for a location map).

There are a number of key issues in North West Brampton (i.e. planning for employment lands, Stage 2 – Environmental Assessment for the GTA West Corridor, North-West Brampton Shale Policy Review, GO Train layover facility, potential new GO Station, new 400 bed Health Care Facility) that will impact the future planning for Heritage Heights (Secondary Plan Areas 52 and 53).

A resolution from the March 30, 2015 Planning and Infrastructure Services Committee meeting directs staff to revisit the June 2014 Land Use Plan. The Department reported back to Planning and Infrastructure Services Committee on October 5, 2015 with a Re-engagement Strategy and approach for revisiting the Land Use Plan and associated Secondary Plan component studies that involves the participation of all the landowners within Secondary Plan Areas 52 and 53.

The City has initiated the following component studies that will inform and guide the preparation of the Secondary Plan:

  • Sub-Watershed Study and Landscape Scale Analysis Update
  • Transportation Master Plan - Public Information Centre 3 - June 4, 2014 (Click here to view notice)
  • Servicing and Infrastructure
  • Employment Implementation Study
  • Shale Resource Update
