Norval Quarry Re-Zoning Planning Application

 On December 9, 2008, Brampton Brick submitted a planning application to the City of Brampton to rezone lands at Old Pinecrest Road and Winston Churchill Boulevard in the City of Brampton (Brampton-Norval Border) in order to permit the extraction of shale and related uses. The site has an area of 34.9 hectares or 97 acres.

*The City initiated peer review reports  of Brampton  Brick’ s 2008 Planning Report and 2010 ARA Report are available under “Peer Review Reports (June 2011)” on the right hand side of the project webpage. The Terms of References are available to view under the tab “Peer Review Documents”. The Terms of References were drafted with significant input from City staff, relevant BAART Agencies and from Stakeholders. The comments received on the draft Terms of Reference, and the City’s response is available to review in the Peer Review TOR Comment/Response table, under the tab “Documents”.

* Planning staff brought a Report to the June 13, 2011 Planning Design and Development Committee Meeting which summarizes the peer review key findings. Staff now have direction to schedule a public meeting concerning Brampton Brick’s re-zoning application in Fall 2011.  The public meeting will provide an opportunity to seek input from the public and present the findings of the peer review before staff report back to Council with a recommendation report.

 

*In January 2011, Brampton Brick appealed the re-zoning application to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) for a decision on the re-zoning.  No prehearing details are available from the OMB however, a case number: PL110063 has been assigned.

 

*Under the Aggregate Resources Act, Brampton Brick submitted the application for an Aggregate Licence to the MNR on August 12, 2010. The ARA Licence application package was deemed complete by MNR on Sept 2, 2010.  The objection period closed on December 20, 2010. Brampton Brick will attempt to resolve, with the objectors, the objections that were received during the objection period.
