Animal Services

Animal Services helps pet owners care responsibly for their domestic pets and makes sure that animals enjoy healthy, safe and harmonious lives with the residents of Brampton.

Countless wildlife are brought to Animal Services injured or abandoned. Animal Services sends these animals to wildlife centres and licensed wildlife rehabilitators to hopefully be released back into the wild.

Adoptions Are Now Half Price for Cats until August 23rd, 2010

The shelter is at full capacity and is now resorting to temporary caging

  • Adopting an animal is easier than you may think. New ‘parents’ are provided with the essentials needed to transition their newest family member home, including: de-worming treatment, microchip identification, six weeks complimentary pet insurance, a lifetime licence, a voucher for complimentary veterinary exam, and vouchers towards spaying and neutering.
  • If you are unable to adopt, you can help make a difference in an animal’s life by donating to the Animal Services HOPE Fund or by providing donations such as toys, blankets, dog beds, food dishes, leashes, and more. The HOPE Fund was established in 2001, in an effort to raise money for sick, injured and orphaned animals so they can be rehabilitated and adopted. To date, the HOPE Fund has helped hundreds of animals, including those hit by cars, in need of X-rays, leg amputations, medications, and other surgeries and treatments.
  • Residents can help keep the pet population in check by having their animal spayed or neutered to prevent breeding.
  • Residents are encouraged to keep cats indoors as much as possible and to actively look for a cat if it is lost. Microchips and identification tags are also effective methods of finding and returning lost animals.

Adoptions are now $50 (½ price for cats, $110.05 regular) until August 23, 2010.
