Nominations for the 2010 Municipal Election will be accepted by the City Clerk's Office beginning Monday, January 4, 2010, for the following offices:

  • Mayor
  • Regional Councillor
  • City Councillor
  • School Board Trustee for:
      • Peel District School Board
      • Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board
      • Conseil scolaire de district du Centre-Sud-Ouest
      • Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud

The 6th Regional Councillor will be appointed by Brampton City Council at a Special Council Meeting to be held early December 2010.


Bill 212 - Amendments to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996

Please note amendments to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 received Royal Assent on December 15th, 2009.

Accessibility

When Selecting a voting location a Clerk must have regard to persons with disabilities

The Clerk shall ensure that each voting place is accessible to persons with disabilities

Compliance Audit Committee

Act gives the municipality the discretion to establish a Compliance Audit Committee

The municipality must establish a Compliance Audit Committee 


Other amendments include changes to candidate expenses, surpluses and financial reporting after the election, etc.  All amendments are currently being reviewed by staff.
