The City of Brampton’s Recreation Division offers practicum, co-op placement, and internship opportunities for post-secondary students in the following focus areas:

  • Recreation and Leisure (General)
  • Sports Management
  • Fitness and Health Promotion; Kinesiology; Physical Education
  • Child and Youth Care
  • Social Service Worker; Gerontology
  • Developmental Social Worker (DSW)
  • Recreation Software/ Business Support​

Students will:

  • Learn about recreation programs at the municipal level
  • Apply relevant knowledge learned in the field of study
  • Build professional relationships
  • Gain real world experience and hands on training at the municipal level
  • Be equipped to apply for relevant job opportunities available after co-op
  • Gain confidence in the specified field

Selection Criteria*

  • Must be registered in a degree or diploma program in a related recreation field (i.e. Recreation & Leisure, Sports Management, Child & Youth Care, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Gerontology, Developmental Social Worker, Business, Computer Applications, or related field of study)
  • Working knowledge of related legislation, in applicable area of discipline
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Customer service skills and experience
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
  • Must be able to work some evenings
  • Police Clearance Certificate required if successful
