Managers Welcome
Theatre Manager, Rose Theatre Brampton
It's hard to believe the Rose is heading into its sixth season. Each year brings a new challenge to present the right variety of programming to suit our diverse audiences.
As I began programming, I looked at your feedback, your requests and at box office returns. I asked myself, how can I make the Rose more accessible to a broader portion of this community, maintain our mandate to present culturally diverse work and challenge our patrons to take artistic risks? The answer is, with an eclectic blend of commercial and well-known acts sprinkled with lesser known, yet dynamic, performances and a lot more family-friendly shows, guaranteeing a broad range of choice for everyone.
I hope to introduce to you shows you might not have thought to attend, but whose international reputation makes them worthy of being presented on our stages.
This year it's "surprise and be surprised", with some performers returning, others gracing our stage for the first time, some big names, and others, the bright stars of tomorrow ready to be discovered by you. My credo continues to be to dare to challenge our audiences, not compromise on creativity and quality and, just maybe, to not always fit the mold.
Welcome back to our theatre!
Costin Manu
Summer Theatre Series Artistic Director
I'm very excited about this summer. We've got some fantastic theatre that's bound to please.
Our Main Stage classics are two musicals that should be on everyone's "must see" list. They don't come bigger than A Chorus Line and Cabaret.
Once again we've filled our Studio schedule with a quirky mix of comedy and Canadiana. The 39 Steps is a hilarious romp though a Hitchcock mystery and The Drawer Boy, in typical Canadian fashion, is a perfect balance of poignancy and humour.
We are also pleased to bring you two fun-filled. family-friendly, free outdoor productions for Shakespeare in the Square.
Finally, don't forget to hang out pre- and post show on our beautiful licensed patio. It's a great way to end the evening and you never know who you'll run into.
