This curator series highlights Brampton's up and coming R&B and Hip Hop artists. With this show, Brampton's Very Own (BVO) shines a light on the urban talent the City has to offer as well as provide these artist with an opportunity to showcase their craft.

Tonight: Tamarack 40th Anniversary Reunion Concert.  What better way to kick off our 15th Friday Folk Night season than with a reunion of one of Canada’s most popular and influential folk groups? Group founder and folk music legend James Gordon has assembled some of the longest serving members of this legendary folk group, including current member Alex Sinclair, Molly Kurvink and Shelley Coopersmith, to play their uniquely Canadian blend of traditional songs, historical original songs and lively fiddle tunes. Opening act: Celtic and East Coast duo Brown Ale.
 
Tickets ($18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors) are available at the door, at the St. Paul’s church office, or through reservations by calling 647-BFF-FOLK (647-233-3655), or by emailing info@bramptonfolk.ca. Jamaican star Marcia Griffiths, one of the most influential women in the history of reggae, headlines this year’s Awards.

A Conversation with Dionne Brand
 
Dionne Brand is the winner of the Griffin Poetry Prize, the Governor General's Literary Award, the Trillium Book Award, the Pat Lowther Memorial Award, the Toronto Book Award, and the Harbourfront Festival Prize for her contribution to the world of books and writing. Brand was Toronto's Poet Laureate from 2009 to 2012. In 2017, she was inducted into the Order of Canada. This year she releases both a new novel, Theory, and a genre-bending poetry collection, The Blue Clerk.

His songs have helped forge an entirely new style of music and rhythm that is revolutionary, fiery, scathing, loving and stinging.
