Filing your Nomination

Please note, nominations for the 2018 Brampton Municipal Election have now closed. The following information is for reference purposes only.

​Before filing your nomination, please review the City of Brampton’s Candidate Information Package (English) (French). 

 

Required Forms
In order to run as a candidate in the 2018 Municipal Election, you must file the following documents with the City Clerk’s Office during the nomination period (May 1 – July 27, 2018):

 

Council Ca​ndidates

  1. Nomination Paper - Form 1 (English) (French)
  2. Endorsement of Nomination - Form 2 (English) (French)
    (at least 25 completed endorsements)*
  3. Consent by Candidate (E1802) (English) (French)
  4. Declaration of Qualification (E1803) (English) (French)

 

* Please note, the Endorsement of Nomination – Form 2 is only required for candidates for Council. Candidates for Council are required to submit 25 endorsements from eligible voters – it is suggested that you obtain more than the required minimum. Please print multiple pages of the form in order to obtain the required number of endorsements.


Only original forms will be accepted. Faxed or mailed copies, or photocopies will not be accepted.

 

School Board Trustee Candidates

Please note, candidates for School Board Trustee are not required to complete the Endorsement of Nomination - Form 2.
 

Filing ​Fee

The nomination filing fee is $200 for Mayor and $100 for all other positions. Accepted forms of payment for the nomination fee include cash, debit, certified cheque or money order. 
 

Identification​

Candidates are required to present original identification showing proof of name and address at the time of filing. Please refer to the List of Acceptable Forms of Identification (English) (French​).
 

Where to File​

The City Clerk’s Office is located on the 1st floor of City Hall, 2 Wellington St. W, Brampton. The City Clerk’s Office is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Please note, on July 27, 2018, the hours for filing a candidate nomination are from 9 am to 2 pm.

 

Bring the required original forms, filing fee and appropriate identification to the City Clerk’s Office during regular business hours. Appointments are not required. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​
