Brampton is Ontario’s third-largest city and the seventh-largest in the country with a population of nearly 800,000. It’s the second-fastest growing of Canada’s 10 largest cities.

Brampton has experienced unprecedented growth since the year 2000, with a population growing five times faster than the Province of Ontario and at four times the pace of the national average.

The funding received from Ottawa and Queen’s Park, is helping to build an inclusive, healthy, and sustainable Brampton. The City looks to the federal and provincial governments to help advance our priorities and improve the quality of life for all Brampton residents​.

About Intergovernmental Affairs & Advocacy

The Intergovernmental Affairs & Advocacy team works to strengthen the City’s partnershi​​​ps and collaboration with the regional, provincial and federal governments to advance and secure funding key priorities and projects that will have a long-lasting economic impact, creating well-paying jobs, and improving community pride and the quality of life for our residents.

Brampton actively collaborates and engages with intergovernmental partners and seeks to expand potential sources of funding through grants and other programs to support high quality of service and program delivery. The City also works closely with organizations such as the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) to advance municipal priorities with the provincial and federal governments.
