Are you on the list to vote for the Municipal Election?

BRAMPTON, ON – It may be over six months to the Municipal Election in October 2018, but spending a few minutes now to check if you’re on the preliminary list of electors will make it easier when you go to the polls. The City of Brampton is encouraging all eligible Brampton voters to visit www.voterlookup.ca to check if they have been included in the Preliminary List of Electors and that their information is correct.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) maintains the Preliminary List of Electors, which is used to prepare the Voters’ List for the municipal and school board elections. Voterlookup.ca is an online service from MPAC. It is an easy and efficient way for electors to confirm they are on the list to vote for the upcoming municipal and school board elections, and that all their information is correct.

Highlights:

• An eligible voter is a person who is at least 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, resides in Brampton, or is a property owner or tenant in Brampton or the spouse of such owner or tenant
• To confirm that your information is accurately recorded for the upcoming Municipal Election, go to voterlookup.ca, and enter your municipality, full name, date of birth, and either your property address or assessment roll number
• Even if you were on the Voters’ List in the previous Municipal Election, check the list now to verify that your details are accurate
• Did you turn 18 in the last few years? Did you move to Brampton or move to a new address within the city recently? Are you a new Canadian citizen? Update your information on voterlookup.ca
• To learn more, visit voterlookup.ca or contact MPAC at 1-866-296-6722 or TTY 1-877-889-6722

Quote:

“MPAC’s voterlookup.ca is an important first step in the preparation of the Voters’ List for the 2018 Municipal Election. Eligible voters can help to ensure their information on the list is up-to-date and accurate – this will help save time at the voting location on Voting Day.”
- Peter Fay, City Clerk and Returning Officer
