BRAMPTON,ON: Here’s some exciting news for Brampton residents and visitors: a new outdoor ice skating facility is coming soon to Chinguacousy Park. Designed in the shape of an irregular ‘canal’ style skating track, it will feature bends that will be configured for skaters with different abilities without disturbing the general flow of skaters. There will also be specially designed winter seating and warming areas along the trail.
During the summer months, the ‘canal’ will become a large, shallow reflective pool that will allow some water play as well. When required, the canal can also be drained to provide a large plaza to support summer outdoor events, performances and other gatherings.
This will be a multi-use facility supporting activities all year round and is expected to be completed by Fall 2016.
Key features:
- Outdoor ice skating trail
- Pedestrian pathway connections
- Open space/plaza
- Seating areas
- New landscape, lights and furniture in accordance with City standards
