Playback 311 is a new initiative that brings Brampton music to the forefront of the 311 phone system.
311 is a simple, three-digit phone number residents, visitors and businesses can use to get information about City of Brampton services or programs, or make a request for service.
People who call 311 are occasionally placed on hold and as part of the Playback 311 program callers will hear recorded music from local artists while they're waiting to speak to a customer service associate.
We are accepting submissions of original music written and recorded by Brampton’s local music scene for the 311 hold queue.
Eligibility
Applicant must hold the copyright to the recording (no covers).
Must be a current resident of Brampton. Official mailing address of 50% of group or band must be in Brampton.
Preferred genres are: alternative, blues, classical, country, easy listening, folk, jazz, pop, R&B/soul, reggae, rock, world music. Music will be selected to best suit a broad-based audience and callers waiting on hold.
Music must not have explicit content. The lyrics or content of the song must not be considered offensive or unsuitable for children:
Strong language
Images of or references to violence, physical, mental abuse;
References to or images of sexualised behaviour;
Racist, homophobic, misogynistic or other language or behaviour that could be considered discriminatory; or
Dangerous or criminal behaviour which could glamorise such behaviour or may encourage others to imitate it.
Procedure
City staff will select tracks to be featured as Playback 311 call-hold recordings seasonally.
Artists whose music is selected for Playback 311 call-hold will receive an honorarium of $50 per track and be listed on the program webpage with links to their websites.
Staff will continually review submissions throughout the year for upcoming seasonal playlists.

- Up to three (3) MP3 music tracks (.mp3 format only; music submitted via links to streaming sites, Dropbox, band web pages or .zip files will not be accepted)
