Treat Accessibly

The City of Brampton is dedicated to identifying opportunities to increase accessibility and a strong sense of belonging for all across its diverse community. Brampton City Council approved an amendment to its Sign By-law to promote barrier-free and accessible ways of trick-or-treating. Brampton homeowners are welcome to place a Treat Accessibly sign on their front lawn to let residents know that if a trick-or-treater has a disability, they can experience Halloween without barriers at their home. Lawn signs can be picked up at Fright Night.

Follow these tips from Treat Accessibly to create a safe environment and provide barrier-free access:
  • Make sure the path to a trick-or-treating area is well-lit.
  • Clear driveways and pathways.
  • Move cars out of the driveway to allow better accessibility for trick-or-treaters.
  • Create a trick-or-treat station at the end of a driveway, out of a garage or a vehicle’s trunk.
  • Refrain from using strobe lights or high-pitched, sudden loud noises.
  • Keep pets safe and secure.
