BRAMPTON, ON — The City of Brampton will begin renovations in September to upgrade the City Clerk’s Service Counter in the atrium of City Hall, with the goal of enhancing service delivery, accessibility and overall customer experience. As part of the project, the Civil Marriage enclaves will also be renovated to better accommodate increased demand. The redesigned space will include seating and a dedicated ceremony area, with guest capacity increased from eight to 12.
As part of the upgrade, one of the service counters will feature hearing loop technology to better support residents who use hearing aids and cochlear implants. This technology will improve accessibility and is part of the City’s broader commitment to inclusive and equitable service delivery for residents of all abilities, by reducing barriers.
City Clerk’s services will remain open during construction and will be temporarily relocated to the third floor of the West Tower (41 George St. S.) beginning Monday, August 18, including:
- Marriage Licences and Ceremonies
- Commissioner of Oaths
- Privacy and Access to Information
- Council/Committee Operations
- Municipal Elections
- Business and Lottery Licences
- Committee of Adjustment
- Accessibility
During the renovation period, services will be available by cashless payment only.
To minimize disruption, construction will take place outside of regular business hours, from 5 pm to 6 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and throughout the day on weekends. The renovations are anticipated to be completed in March 2026, after which City Clerk’s services and civil marriage ceremonies will resume operations at City Hall.
Underground parking is available in the West Tower Garage.
