BRAMPTON, ON (October 6, 2023) – Building on its commitment to ensuring Brampton remains a healthy and safe community, the Public Nuisance By-law 136-2018 has been amended to prohibit excessive noise, emissions and emission control system modifications and testing. 

The amendments to Public Nuisance By-law 136-2018 include:

Mufflers or other devices, which emit loud, explosive or unreasonable noises are not permitted to be installed, including modified mufflers or exhaust systems. 

Power devices, such as lawnmowers, grass trimmers, drills, sanders, grinders or similar devices are not permitted for use out of doors within a Residential Area between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am, except until 9 am on Saturdays, Sundays and Statutory Holidays.

Repairing, rebuilding, modifying or testing out of doors any Motor Vehicle, motorboat, outboard motor or recreational vehicle is not permitted within a Residential Area between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am, except until 9 am on Saturdays, Sundays and Statutory Holidays.  

City of Brampton Enforcement and By-law Services staff will continue to enforce this by-law, while Peel Regional Police and Ontario Provincial Police maintain their responsibility to investigate moving, stopped, or idling vehicles on a public roadway (City or Regional road) governed by the Highway Traffic Act.
