As part of the Region of Peel’s essential construction in downtown Brampton, from August 14, 7 am until September 8, 7 pm, Main Street and Queen Street in downtown Brampton will be closed to vehicle traffic

This closure will allow the Region to replace the necessary aging watermains and sanitary sewers.

The City is working to ensure impacts to local businesses and residents are minimized during this time. Vehicles will be rerouted to the next major intersections to avoid residential streets disruptions.

Access for emergency services will remain. Access for pedestrians will remain open, as per posted signage, and planned festivities and events will proceed with minimal impact.

Downtown Businesses

Downtown businesses remain open throughout construction. Pedestrian access to businesses and residences will be maintained.

The Downtown Brampton Business Improvement Area (BIA) is currently planning to create a dedicated pedestrian-only piazza, on Queen Street West, from Main to George St. The Piazza will be in place during the closure and will feature activations and other activities to create a fun, pedestrian-friendly space.

More details will be shared once finalized by the BIA.
