Brampton to open select outdoor skating rinks on December 4

Mount Chinguacousy scheduled to open December 27, Winter Program Registration begins December 13.

BRAMPTON, ON (December 3, 2021) – The City of Brampton is opening select outdoor skating rinks on Saturday, December 4 starting at 10 am, weather permitting. Locations include Chinguacousy Park Skate Recreational Trail and Gage Park Outdoor Skating Recreational Trail. For all information, including hours of operation and rink status, visit www.brampton.ca/outdoorskating.  

Mount Pleasant Outdoor Skating Rink and Gore Meadows Covered Outdoor Skating Rink are scheduled to open for the season on December 8, weather permitting.

The City will open additional temporary outdoor skating rinks at Flower City Community Campus, Morris Kerbel Park, and Earnscliffe Park on December 13, weather permitting.

Reservations are not required for outdoor skating. Rinks may temporarily close due to weather or maintenance requirements. Please check rink hours and status at www.brampton.ca/outdoorskating prior to your visit. 

A food truck will be onsite at Chinguacousy Park Friday evenings and during weekends. Food and beverages will not be available for purchase at other outdoor rink locations.

Gage Park, Mount Pleasant, Chinguacousy Park, and Gore Meadows outdoor skate locations now permit the use of City-provided skate aids. A limited number of skate-aids are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Staff clean the skate aids thoroughly between skates. Participants using skate aids are required to provide and use their own CSA-approved hockey helmet and full facemask.

Skate rentals and skate sharpening are available on a limited basis at Gage Park and Chinguacousy Park. View hours and fees at www.brampton.ca/outdoorskating.

COVID-19 Health and Safety Measures

In line with Provincial guidelines, proof of vaccination is not required at outdoor skating rinks.

COVID-19 safety precautions include enhanced passive health screening for patrons prior to participating and increased signage to remind residents of COVID-19 safety parameters, traffic flow, and recommended hygienic practices.

Non-medical masks and face coverings are recommended when a two-meter distance cannot be maintained.

Washroom amenities will be available. Masks are required inside of the washrooms.

Mount Chinguacousy Opening

Mount Chinguacousy is our city’s destination for Skiing, Snowboarding and Tubing located at Chinguacousy Park. Mount Chinguacousy is scheduled to reopen on December 27, weather and snow conditions permitting.

Winter Program Registration

Registration for Brampton Recreation’s winter sessional programs begins December 13 at 6 am. Programs are available to view online at www.brampton.ca/registerforprograms beginning December 6. Winter registered programs begin on January 3, 2022.
