COVID-19 updates: Brampton courthouse reopens on July 6, spray pad hours extended

BRAMPTON, ON (July 6, 2020) – As part of the City of Brampton’s reopening and recovery plan, Brampton’s Provincial Offences Courthouse will reopen on July 6, and spray pad hours will be extended.

The City takes community health and safety seriously, and safety measures will be in place.

Courthouse

The Ontario Court of Justice Provincial Offences Court located at 5 Ray Lawson Boulevard will reopen on July 6.

Those attending the courthouse must follow all posted signage and directions. There will be a designated one-way entry door, where visitors will be greeted by a security guard. Visitors are asked to review the posted COVID-19 self-screening questions prior to entry. Hand sanitizer will be provided upon entry. Visitors can then visit the Information Counter for a queue ticket.

If the queue is at capacity, visitors will be prompted to provide their cell phone number to receive a queue number via text message. They will be asked to wait outside until they receive a text message advising them to enter the building. Colour coded floor markings will guide visitors to different service areas in the building.

Please be advised that all in-person Provincial Offences Act matters will be adjourned until September 11, 2020. A copy of the notice is available on the Ontario Court of Justice’s website.

Spray pads

Starting July 6, spray pad operating hours have been extended. Spray pads in Brampton will now be open from 9 AM to 9 PM, weather permitting, instead of 10 AM to 8 PM. Visit www.brampton.ca/recreation for a list of spray pad locations.

COVID-19 safety measures

Peel Public Health and the City of Brampton urge everyone to maintain physical distancing. Be sure to practise good hand hygiene by washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when on the go. Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow, and wash or sanitize your hands afterwards.

Please do not attend the courthouse or spray pads if you are feeling unwell.
