​BRAMPTON, ON (July 30, 2020) – This week, the City of Brampton introduced new curbside pickup parking zones in the downtown to help support local businesses and residents.

As businesses adjusted to the impacts of COVID-19 and moved their offerings online, curbside pickup and delivery became encouraged to help protect the health and safety of the community and customers.

Recognizing the increased demand for parking in the downtown and in consultation with the Downtown Brampton Business Improvement Association (BIA), the City approved “Loading Zones” to also be used as curbside pick-up parking in an effort to keep businesses, customers and residents safe. To help build awareness, signage was installed to indicate which areas may be used for 15-minute curbside pick-up parking spaces. Locations include:
• 46 Queen St. East
• 12 Queen St. East
• Main St. North - Garden Square
• Main St. North - Vivian Lane
• 24 Main St. South
• 74 Queen St. West

Throughout its response to COVID-19, the City introduced measures to help support local businesses in their recovery and ensure they can operate safely:
• On May 13, Brampton Council approved an Economic Recovery Strategy as a framework for the City to move forward with restarting the local economy.
• On May 20, the City of Brampton launched its “Support Local” campaign to encourage residents to Shop, Eat, Gift and Support Local.
• On May 29, Brampton was among the first municipalities in Canada to announce its participation in the ShopHERE program.
• On June 24, the City launched its Patio Brampton program to enable its restaurants and bars to expand their patios and maintain physical distancing outside. Through the Patio Brampton program, more residents have been able to get outdoors to enjoy the summer weather, and support local businesses. To date, 38 applications have been approved through the Patio Brampton program.
