BRAMPTON, ON (November 19, 2025) – The City of Brampton is calling on residents to recognize the exceptional individuals who make our community stronger through the 2025 Brampton Citizen Awards. Nominations are open until January 9, 2026, and residents are encouraged to put forward athletes, artists, volunteers and local heroes who have made an impact in 2025.
Since 1975, the program has celebrated residents who have achieved excellence in sports, arts and community service, and who reflect the spirit and values that makes Brampton a stronger, more connected and vibrant city.

Award Categories
- Sports Achievement Award – Individual – recognizes Brampton athletes for outstanding performance at the provincial, national or international level.
- Sports Achievement Award – Team – recognizes Brampton sports teams for outstanding performance at the provincial, national or international level.
- Ken Giles Amateur Athlete of the Year Award – Presented in partnership with the Brampton Guardian, this award recognizes an amateur athlete whose dedication, excellence and sportsmanship have made a lasting impact.
- Arts Acclaim Award – Celebrates artists or creators whose work has achieved local, provincial, national or international distinction.
- Long Term Service Award – Recognizes individuals whose volunteerism has strengthened Brampton’s recreational, artistic or social programs over many years.
- Inspirational Award – Pays tribute to residents whose compassion, advocacy or leadership have made a difference in the lives of others.
- Emergency Services Award of Valour – Selected by Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Peel Regional Police and Peel Paramedics, this award recognizes heroic individuals who risked their lives to save others.
- Citizen of the Year Awards – Presented to a youth, adult and senior who demonstrate exceptional civic spirit and all-around community involvement.
