BRAMPTON, ON (August 18, 2025) – With Mayor Patrick Brown’s Hockey Night in Brampton just days away, Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Chris Tanev has been announced as the second Captain for Canada’s biggest charity hockey game. He will face off against teammate and fellow Leafs star Auston Matthews, who was previously announced as Team Captain, setting the stage for an exciting matchup.

Tickets are now sold out for this year’s game, but fans can still support the building of Brampton’s second hospital by donating through hockeynightinbrampton.ca. Happening this Wednesday, August 20, at the CAA Centre, Hockey Night in Brampton 2025 will bring together NHL stars past and present for an unforgettable night of hockey in support of local charities. Fans can look forward to seeing Tanev and Matthews leading two powerhouse squads that include Gary Roberts, Ryan Getzlaf, Curtis Joseph, Mark Giordano, Owen Nolan, Jeremy Roenick, Owen Power, Blayre Turnbull, Renata Fast and many more.
Fans can also take part in special autograph sessions presented by 407 ETR before the game. At 6 pm, Owen Nolan, Curtis Joseph and Jeremy Roenick will meet fans, followed by Darryl Sittler and Wendel Clark at 6:30 pm. The meet and greets are free with a ticket purchase.
