Strategy outlines clear goals to foster inclusion and dismantle systemic barriers across the City
BRAMPTON, ON (June 25, 2025) – The City of Brampton has launched its first Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy, following Council endorsement. The Strategy outlines a two-year plan to remove barriers, strengthen inclusion and advance equity across the organization and within the broader Brampton community.
The EDI Strategy 2025–2026 is a proactive plan that outlines the City’s commitment to advancing equity, removing systemic barriers and fostering a culture of belonging for both employees and the broader community. Developed through cross-departmental collaboration and guided by feedback from staff, the strategy provides a roadmap for meaningful and measurable change.
Aligned with Brampton’s 2024 Corporate Strategic Plan and the Brampton 2040 Vision: Living the Mosaic, the strategy is grounded in four key pillars:
- Diverse and Equitable Workforce
- Community Engagement
- Foster and Create a Culture of Belonging
- Identify and Address Systemic Barriers
These pillars focus on improving internal workplace culture, leadership development and community partnerships while embedding inclusion across all levels of the organization.
As a companion to the Strategy, the City has also released an Equity Office Progress Report, which highlights accomplishments from the past four years. Since its establishment in 2020, the Equity Office has led initiatives in community outreach, public education and organizational change to build awareness and create impact. The report captures these efforts and sets the stage for strategic priorities moving forward.
