Celebrate with a week-long lineup of inclusive programs and a call for Accessibility Award nominations
BRAMPTON, ON (May 26, 2025) – The City of Brampton is marking National AccessAbility Week from May 25 to 31, 2025, with a series of inclusive recreation programs and initiatives that highlight the importance of accessibility and the contributions of individuals living with disabilities in building a more inclusive community.
To kick off the week of celebrations, today, the City hosted a National AccessAbility Week Flag Raising Ceremony joined by members of council, members of the Accessibility Advisory Committee and advocates at Ken Whillans Square. Flying the National AccessAbility Week flag reinforces Brampton’s commitment as a steadfast and proud accessibility ally. The City remains committed to creating a barrier-free, inclusive community where everyone can thrive.

Submit your nomination for Brampton’s 2025 Accessibility Awards
As part of the City’s ongoing commitment to accessibility and inclusion, Brampton is calling for nominations for the 2025 Accessibility Awards. These awards recognize individuals, businesses and organizations that are actively removing barriers and advancing accessibility across the city.
Residents are encouraged to nominate those who are making a meaningful impact in accessibility, beginning May 30 until July 31, 2025. Nomination forms, eligibility criteria and additional information are available at brampton.ca/accessibility. Recipients will be announced in December.
Join us | National AccessAbility Week recreation activities
To support community engagement during National AccessAbility Week, the City will also host Accessible Recreation Week, generously sponsored by 407 ETR. A variety of free, inclusive programs will be offered, including sensory-friendly swims and skates, adaptive sports, inclusive dance and multi-sensory room drop-ins for residents of all ages and abilities.
