City of Brampton celebrates Tamil Heritage Month and Lunar New Year

​BRAMPTON, ON (January 17, 2023) – The City of Brampton will pay tribute to its multicultural mosaic in January by recognizing Tamil Heritage Month and Lunar New Year with City-led events.

Tamil Heritage Month

In partnership with the Brampton Tamil Association and Brampton Tamil Seniors Association, the City of Brampton invites the community to celebrate Tamil Heritage Month, in-person on January 21.

• Live performances
• Sample traditional cuisine
• Learn about the rich history and culture of the Tamil community

Welcome Year of the Rabbit

Together with the Brampton Chinese Business Association (BCBA), the City of Brampton invites the community to celebrate Lunar New Year and welcome the Year of the Rabbit, in-person on January 26.

The Year of the Rabbit begins on Sunday, January 22, 2023 and refers to people born in the years 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999 and 2011.

The rabbit is known to be the luckiest of the twelve animals. People who are born in the year of the rabbit are calm and peaceful.
