BRAMPTON, ON (May 12, 2022) – The City of Brampton is celebrating its dedicated team members who are ready, resilient and keep this city moving during National Public Works Week (NPWW) from May 15 to 21.
The theme of NPWW this year is “Ready and Resilient” which emphasizes the contributions made by the City’s team during the COVID-19 pandemic who kept the community safe, clean and moving. The City of Brampton’s Public Works and Engineering (PWE) team includes nearly 800 team members that provide critical and essential work including construction and maintenance to keep sidewalks, roads and bridges safe, signal and streetlight management, snow removal, facility maintenance, street sweeping and more.
Members of the PWE team also played a pivotal role in the Churchville area flooding in February. Crews worked around the clock to remove ice jams, pump excess water from the area and ensure the infrastructure was safe for residents.
During NPWW, City of Brampton’s PWE team will be holding a food drive. Non-perishable food and baby items can be donated at City Hall, 2 Wellington Street West; Flower City Community Campus, 8850 McLaughlin Road South; Century Gardens Recreation Centre, 340 Vodden Street East; Earnscliffe Recreation Centre, 44 Eastbourne Drive; Gore Meadows Community Centre, 10150 The Gore Road; and, Cassie Campbell Community Centre 1050 Sandalwood Parkway West.
This National Public Works Week, residents are encouraged to participate by submitting photos of what NPWW means in their area.
