Councillor Elaine Moore actively supports programs and policies that strike a balance between growth and residential interests. Community comes first and Elaine believes the best solutions to problems are ones driven from the bottom up and not the top down. Councillor Moore supports the need for Council to be accountable and govern themselves with the highest level of integrity and transparency. Her top priorities are taxes, crime and safety, and managing growth.
Councillor Moore has served her residents for the past 25 years, first, as a Peel District Public School Board Trustee for 11 years, followed by City Councillor for Ward 1 for one term, and presently as a Regional Councillor for Wards 1 and 5. Elaine has a reputation for asking difficult questions and demanding full disclosure on matters that are important to the taxpayers of Brampton – her commitment to accountability and transparency has been a hallmark of her tenure on Council.
Currently Councillor Moore is Chair of the Region of Peel’s Heath Services Committee. She is also a member of the Peel Housing Corporation and the Region’s Growth Management Committee.
Councillor Moore is a member of all standing City committees and chairs the Planning and Infrastructure Services Standing Committee. As Chair, Elaine sees incorporating economic development impact principles with planning sustainable communities. Drawing on her role as Chair of the Regional Health Services committee, Elaine believes active transportation and walkable community principles need to be incorporated into our existing neighbourhoods and our future growth.
She is also the Vice Chair of the Service Brampton and Facilities under the City’s Community and Public Services Committee.
