What is the Brampton School Traffic Safety Council?

The Brampton School Traffic Safety Council (BSTSC) is a Citizen Advisory Committee that reports to Brampton City Council on traffic safety matters around Brampton schools, including:

• school bus safety
• crossing guard programs
• pedestrian and bicycle safety
• school walking routes
• parking and traffic around schools

It is made up of Brampton citizens and representatives from Peel Regional Police, Peel District School Board, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, Student Transportation of Peel Region, and the City of Brampton (Enforcement and By-law Services, Fire and Emergency Services and Traffic Services).

Are BSTSC meetings open to the public?

Yes, any member of the public can attend a BSTSC meeting. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month (except July and August), starting at 9:30 am. The meetings take place in the Council Committee boardroom, Brampton City Hall, 4th floor.​

Can I make a presentation to the BSTSC?

Yes. If you are looking to present/delegate to the committee about an issue, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at least three weeks in advance. You can reach the Clerk’s Office at 905.874.2114 or email cityclerksoffice@brampton.ca.​

Are BSTSC members available to attend school events (seminars, open houses, etc.) to talk about traffic safety?

It is our goal to work with and support all schools in Brampton to promote safety awareness. If you are looking for a speaker for an event, please contact the Clerk’s Office at least a month in advance so we can try to accommodate your request.​
