Three out of the four Fieldhouses have been completed now. On the fourth field, Fieldhouse D, new turf will be installed this spring, followed by a semi-permanent gymnasium floor.Why is a new floor being installed in Fieldhouse D?As the popularity of different sports has shifted in recent years, there has been an increased demand for gym space across the city. The new gymnasium floor will improve the quality of the surface, and expand the kinds of sports that can be played at this location. The new flooring can still be removed if necessary for a major sporting event requiring the use of the turf. The new gymnasium will provide an important additional venue option for tournaments and other sport tourism events.When will Fieldhouse D be closed for renovations?Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2018, with completion anticipated in Summer 2018.How will rental groups who use Fieldhouse D be accommodated during the closure?City staff will contact affected user groups directly to discuss the impacts of the closure.How will the construction impact visitors to the centre?Patrons and staff can expect increased noise and vibration during the construction period.
