...Navigate the Map?
To Navigate the map, click anywhere in the map and drag to pan. Double click the map to zoom in, or use the scroll wheel on your mouse.
You can also use the "Map Pilot" - the navigation tool in the bottom left side of the map. Slide the tab up to zoom out, down to zoom in. You can rotate the map by clicking on the N, S, E or W and dragging. To tilt the map, simply click on the tab below the earth graphic and drag up or down.
*tip - To zoom in on a specific area, hold the Control key on the keyboard, click anywhere in the map and drag your mouse to define a circle around the spot you wish to quickly zoom to.
...Search for an Address or Intersection?
In the Address Search... box on the bottom left of the map, enter an address and click the fly to button. If the address is found, the map will automatically fly to that destination within Brampton. If multiple matching addresses are found, the map will return a list of which you can choose the exact match.
To search for a Business, Park, or School, simply click the down arrow in the search box, select your desired search, and enter a Business name, Park name or School name, respectively.
To search for an intersection, simply click the down arrow in the search box and select the 'Intersection' option. Enter the name of one of the intersecting streets and click the search button. A list of intersecting streets will be generated based on the street name you have entered. Select your desired intersecting street from the list, the map will automatically fly to the intersection you have specified.
...Turn on the Air Photo?
In the legend on the right hand side, expand the Brampton Base Maps group by clicking the arrow. Click the check box for the Spring 2009 Air Photo.
*tip - You may also wish to turn on Street Labels on top of the Air Photo.
...Measure Distance or Area?
To measure a distance or area, click on the Tool button at the top of the map to open the Tool Box.
Choose your desired method of measuring, Length, Rectangle, or Radius. Click in the map and continue to click to draw a line, rectangle or circle along the feature you wish to measure. Double click to finish your measurement. Click the xClear button to remove your measurement from the map.
...Change the Map to Full Screen?
To switch the map to Full Screen mode, click the Tool button at the top right of the map to open the Tool Box. Click the Full Screen button in the Tool Box, press Escape on the keyboard to go back to Normal Size mode.
While in Full Screen mode, you may experience some features not working. Simple switch back to Normal Screen mode and continue.
...Print a Map?
Use your regular Internet Browser print command to print a map. You may want to go to Print Preview, and switch your paper layout to Portrait for a better print out.
...Use ACRIS (Active Control Reference Index System)?
** Under Tools Menu - Check the box for the Vertical Point Routing or Horizontal Point Routing to view them on the map. Hovering over each point in the map will display information about the Control point. Click the point to view the details and get access to Reference Sketches.
Horizontal Point Routing - Use this command to display a details window of 4 closest horizontal control points to a specified point. You will be prompted to define the point on the map. Define the point by left-clicking on the map. ** To display detail information in the detail panel click on any of nearest monument.
Vertical Point Routing - Use this command to display a data window of 2 closest vertical control points to a specified point. You will be prompted to define the point on the map. Define the point by left-clicking on the map. ** To display detail information including routing service click on any of nearest benchmark point. In the detail panel click on "View Larger Map" for route and directions. Google street view can be used on click on specific point or routes.
Export to Excel - Right click on the table at the bottom of the detail panel and choose "export into MS Excel".
If you encounter any unexpected result, refresh the page or hit F5.
