City of Brampton celebrates National Public Works Week until May 22

BRAMPTON, ON (May 17, 2021) –Today, the City kicks off its celebration of National Public Works Week (NPWW) in Brampton to acknowledge and appreciate the men and women who contribute to keeping the community safe, clean and moving each day.

Nearly 700 City of Brampton employees are part of the Public Works and Engineering team, which provides critical and essential work on the frontlines including construction and maintenance to keep sidewalks, roads and bridges safe for essential travel, signal and streetlight management, spring cleanup, snow removal, catch basin cleaning, street sweeping and more.

Prior to COVID-19, the City of Brampton celebrated NPWW by building awareness of how public works services affect the community every day, with activities held throughout the week. While there are no in-person events this year, there is a NPWW colouring sheet for children which can be coloured, photographed and posted on social media. Residents can learn more about the people who are in Brampton’s Public Works Department by watching staff videos on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram throughout the week or visit www.brampton.ca for more information.
