Brampton Fire now accepting applications for George Hitchcock bursary

BRAMPTON, ON (February 5, 2021) – Residents interested in pursuing a career in fire services are invited to apply for the George Hitchcock Memorial Endowment Fund, commonly known as the George Hitchcock bursary.

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services created the George Hitchcock Memorial Endowment Fund in 2014 in honour of the late Division Chief George Hitchcock, who served in Brampton Fire and Emergency Services for 33 years. He was pivotal in establishing the Fire/Life Safety Education Division, which is instrumental in providing fire safety education to thousands of Brampton residents every year. He inspired and encouraged others to consider careers in fire services.

The George Hitchcock bursary is offered annually for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in fire services. The bursary is for the successful applicant’s post-secondary tuition fees.
