Brampton has its ear to the ground: Music’s best in the northwest GTA to be spotlighted at NXNE

Calling all emerging music artists to help shine a spotlight on ‘This is Brampton’ showcase, deadline to apply is April 27

BRAMPTON, ON – On the heels of Alessia Cara’s Grammy win, Jessie Reyez’s JUNO Award, and induction of Brampton’s Arts Walk of Fame notables Exco Levi and Hotline Bling’s Director X, Brampton continues to forge its way onto the global music scene as a hotbed for emerging talent. The City of Brampton announced today its participation in the world-leading music festival, North by Northeast (NXNE) in a first-ever partnership to spotlight some of the most exciting and budding artists who call Brampton home.

This is Brampton will take over Toronto’s iconic live music venue at the Rivoli (334 Queen St. W., Toronto) on Friday, June 15 as part of NXNE. The City of Brampton is calling all local musicians, recording artists and bands to participate in this exciting showcase for an opportunity to gain valuable exposure that could help catapult their music careers to the next level, and join in the celebration of Brampton-pride.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Recording artists and bands across all genres are invited to submit an application to culture@brampton.ca no later than April 27 at 4 pm ET.  A panel of the GTA’s music tastemakers will curate submissions; only successful applicants will be contacted in mid-May.

For more information about This is Brampton including application guidelines, visit www.brampton.ca/NXNE or email culture@brampton.ca.

As one of the youngest and uniquely diverse cities in the GTA, Brampton has emerged as a bona fide cultural hub that is fostering some of the world’s most creative and authentic talent.

This is Brampton will be a feature of NXNE’s Tastemaker Series 2018, a set of shows programmed by Canadian music personalities, digital influencers, industry leaders, provincial, municipal and national music associations, industry associations, record labels and more.

Tickets and wristbands for the showcase are available at nxne.com.
